Music and art have always played a huge role in Fernando's life ever since his childhood, thanks to his family. Born and raised in Florianópolis (Brazil), he was able to combine both passions when he started tap dancing in 2003 with Bia Mattar.
With the goal to learn more about this art form and improve, he traveled to some of the most important festivals in Brazil and the world, many times as a scholarship student.
As an artist and dancer, I always try to translate things that are essential to me in all of the work I do as a teacher, dancer or choreographer.

Artistic investigation that seeks to experiment and explore tap dancing beyond the traditional technique. In this process, the aim is to expand the corporal development to the practice, affirming and attributing itself to the expression of dance.
“ignis” was a photoshoot directed by Bolivar Alencastro. The project explores the isolation, and the idea of exploring the dancer’s limits. The scenery included Florianópolis landmark, the dunes.
Director and tap dancer of “Step by Tap”, Jazz and Brazilian Popular Music’s band that features tap dance and performs in pubs, restaurants, events and celebrations in Florianópolis and surroundings.
Understudy tap dancer in Cia. Trupe Toe’s “Recriando Linguagens”, a show that connects Brazilian popular music to the rhythmic nature of tap dance, stimulating a dialogue between traditions and cultures, directed by Marina Coura.

Author of “opus urbanus”, a final paper of Architecture and Urban Planning, that investigates the potential for transforming the urban spaces of Florianópolis in front of tap dancing performances, bringing the performance body as a possible tool for transforming the space.
Coreographer and tap dancer of the piece “Estudo sobre o Minimalismo”, a group choreography created with the goal to explore cyclic movements and repetition both in steps and also the music.
Coreographer and tap dancer of the piece “Duo para Fats Waller”, a swing-tap number dedicated to the musician. It has been created in association with tap dancer Yasmin Bogo.
Faculty as one of the guest professional tap dancers of Floripa Tap Festival, one of the biggest tap dance festivals in Brazil, which receives many tap dancers from all around the world. Invited to teach workshops and perform at the event’s gala night.
