Duo para Fats Waller

For some time I felt the need to seek inspiration in dance acts from the 30s and 40s. But what really moved me was watching the video of Joseph and Josette Wigann's performance at the Stockholm Tap Festival. "Duo para Fats Waller" (Duo for Fats Waller) was created collaboratively with the tap dancer Yasmin Bogo, also from Florianópolis. We focused on working the swing-tap and exploring a classic alignment of the arms. We also decided to explore positioning on stage in a way that until then, we did not dare. In each performance we noticed a great improvement in every step and every movement. The piece has been performed at Tap in Rio Festival (2017), in Rio de Janeiro, at Brasil Tap Festival (2017), in São Paulo and at Floripa Tap (2018), in Florianópolis. According to Derick Grant, the piece showcases “great chemistry”.
